Practice re-opened January 12, 2005

Due to the overwhelming burden of skyrocketing liability insurance costs, the Foris Surgical Group is forced to announce that we must suspend medical and surgical services as of January 1, 2005.

As this agonizing decision approached, we had been encouraged by talk of a special state legislative session to address the issue and pass meaningful reform to our broken medical liability system. Unfortunately, it now appears that the trial lawyers who dominate our state government have successfully blocked reform efforts.

We have been privileged to serve the Frederick community for more than two decades, but with no hope of relief in sight we cannot continue to absorb these enormous premiums. During our absence we will continue to fight for meaningful reform and, if successful, we will return. In the meantime, we will not abandon our patients with ongoing surgical needs and will assist them in finding quality care in Baltimore where at present these services are still available.
