Specializing in General Surgery

Dr. Max Wingerd grew up in Elgin, Illinois, near Chicago. He graduated from Northwestern University in 1970 and received his M.D. from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in 1975. He served as a surgical intern and resident at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and completed his residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he served as Chief Resident.

Dr. Wingerd is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (F.A.C.S.). He has been engaged in the practice of General and Vascular Surgery since 1980 and has practiced in Frederick since 1984. Dr. Wingerd has served as Chief of Surgery at Warren Memorial Hospital in Front Royal, Virginia and at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick.

In addition to vascular surgery, Dr. Wingerd enjoys most aspects of general surgery including gastrointestinal, gallbladder, hernia, breast and cancer surgery.
