Michael Winton, MD, FACS, is a highly skilled and board-certified general surgeon. In addition, he is part of the team at Foris Surgical Group, an outstanding resource providing surgical interventions for the community of Frederick, Maryland.
Education has always been an essential part of Dr. Winton’s life. He began his studies at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, completing his undergraduate degree. He went on to earn his medical degree at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in East Lansing before completing his residency in general surgery at the University of Massachusetts.
Dr. Winton entered professional life as a general surgeon at Frederick Health Hospital in Maryland. While there, he expanded the availability of minimally invasive surgery, as at that time no General Surgeon was performing robotic surgery. The impact of this tool was demonstrated through patient outcomes, which played a key role in the hospital's purchase of a second DaVinci® Surgical Robot.
Numerous physicians in the area send their patients to Dr. Winton for all kinds of surgical procedures. Over the years, he’s earned a reputation for outstanding outcomes based on the latest surgical tools and techniques. That body of work places him in an excellent position to serve his community now that he has transitioned into private practice.
While working under hospital guidelines, Dr. Winton saw firsthand how frustrating it could be to have communication barriers between patient and practitioner and the hassles of red tape and administrative headaches. He is excited to take that understanding and use it to shape a better path forward for the patients under his care.
